Approach

Teaching film is not teaching about film

The distinction matters. Effective film education operates at the level of craft, critical thinking, and professional formation simultaneously. Students need to make things, think about what they are making, and understand the industry they are making them for — and these are not separate modules.

Learning happens through sustained engagement with real problems. Live briefs, industry mentors, and authentic assessment are not decorative additions to a curriculum; they are the architecture that makes learning stick.

On AI specifically

Judgment first, tools second

Most AI training in this sector teaches software. That is the least durable part of it: the interface will change within the year. What lasts is knowing what to delegate, what to describe, what to discern, and where diligence is non-negotiable.

Sessions are built around that framework and around documented limitations, not vendor feature lists. Nobody pays to have their tool taught here.

Workshop

AI and the limits of delegation

For teaching staff and practitioners. Works through the calibration instrument and the 4Ds with your own material, so people leave with a position on their own work rather than a general briefing.
