200 words

Mostafa Nagy is a documentary filmmaker and film educator based in London, and the founder of CutToAi. CutToAi builds free instruments for filmmakers and film educators, tests them in real productions and real classrooms, and publishes what holds up — including what does not. Every tool it releases carries an explicit statement of what it cannot do.

After thirty years working in broadcast across Al Jazeera, the BBC, ITV, Sky, NBC, Discovery and Disney, Nagy moved into higher education. He is Course Leader for BA (Hons) Digital Film Practice at MetFilm School, BIMM University, and previously served as Film Programme Director at the University for the Creative Arts and Senior Lecturer at Ravensbourne University London. He is completing an EdD at Bournemouth University on the systemic reform of practice-based film education.

His documentary work includes Ali and His Miracle Sheep (co-producer), which won Best Film in the UK Competition at Sheffield Doc/Fest 2021, and 40 Years of Silence (co-producer), currently in post-production. He is a certified instructor for Avid, Blackmagic Design and ARRI, and an Adobe Creative Educator.

Coverage

Citations and press

This section is deliberately empty rather than padded. CutToAi is new, and a page of thin mentions dressed up as coverage would undercut the point of the method page.

If you have cited the calibration instrument, the market map, or anything else here — in an article, a syllabus, a paper, or a talk — tell us and it will be listed. Teaching use counts.

On a deadline?

Say so in the first line and we will prioritise it. Happy to do background, fact-checking, or a quote on AI in filmmaking and film education.
